The Irani trophy will be a showcase of talent, but to what end? Only one place in the side is open, it seems, that of Ganguly.

Sumit, I won't be surprised at all if Ganguly makes it to the playing XI against Australia. After ROIs show today, neither Kaif nor Badri impressed enough. Jaffer played his usual innings and Dravid seems to be finding his old self (despite media reports which I find very biased) after a shaky start. If SRT isn't fit, Ganguly might win here and rightly so.
vmminerva, it's surprising to see kaif get another chance, ignoring the claims of raina who helped india win the one-day series in lanka. and why isn't rohit playing? badri too is less impressive than rohit and raina. so yes, if they keep playing musical chairs with these guys, there will be no option but to continue with ganguly.
jaffer, dravid, ganguly, dravid...are these mes we should be discussing at all in the light of these guys' performances in their last 8 or 10 innings in Tests? This, in a country where talent abounds. If we don't blood youngsters like Raina and Asnodkar in a home series on turning pitches against the Aussies, when and where will we give them an opportunity? At the WACA after Ganguly and Dravid have turned 72, and after the Indian team's travelling geriatrist forbids them from playing more than 3 Test matches a year?
@Sumit, Badri played rather well today along with Dravid. Of all the so-called youngsters, I think Aakash Chopra deserves another ago. I realize he isn't a youngster per say, but so what? Badri might probably be next in line if he continues to perform. In fact of between him, Rohit Sharma and Raina, for Tests, my vote will be for Badri, though I wonder if he will turn into another Sadagopan Ramesh.
@Sampath, while blooding younsters is a good thing, we need to find deserving folk. This is Test cricket, not T20 after all flashiness from a few overs will NOT do. I think too much is being said about age - if the players are fit enough, why not? Being 19 should not be the only criterion for selection.
